Whats your preference ear piercing or body jewellery piercing?

For me the answer to that question is both! I have had my ears pierced since I was 2 years old and at the ages of 12 and 14 (if memory serves) had other sets of ear piercings, thus now have 3 rows :)

My own preference are hoops for my ears but I understand that isn't for everyone and studs are preferred, be it shiny CZ gems, faux pearl or plain sterling silver. But there are plenty of other places to pierce your ears other than the lobe, there is conch, tragus, diath and the helix piercing. For my cartilage piercing I use a surgical steel bar with a nice shiny CZ gem. These fit snug to the ear so your hair doesn't get caught up in them and they don't stick in the side of your head whilst you sleep and I am fond of the shiny gems. But you can use BCRs if you prefer.

Nose piercing jewellery

Some thought it was a fad and would fizzle out, but since its been around for the best part of 4000 years we don't think so. There are different types of body jewellery that can be used in nose piercings from stud or screw types and even rings/hoops. Which ever is your preference these types of jewellery come in different metals or plastic. These can include surgical steel, 14k gold, sterling silver and of course flexi shafts. Nose piercings take approximately 2-3 months to heal completely but can heal quicker than that if the new piercing is taken care of properly. Most nose piercings are done through the curve of your nostril and should never be pierced using a gun

Discriminated against for body piercing!

After a visit to a supermarket a few weeks ago I was astonished to hear two women talking about a 'youngster' (their words not mind) in a quite shocking way.

We all think of discrimination automatically as skin colour or ethnicity which in the majority of cases is true, but is not the only way people discriminate. We all judge people everyday in different ways be it their colour, the clothes that they wear, the house they live in, car they drive the list goes on but you get my drift.

However it was the young lads body jewellery that these 'ladies' were discussing. I listened with interest as these women chatted on about how horrible it looked and how it shouldn't be allowed blah blah!

I really wanted to point out that body piercing just like tattoos are a form of body art and self expression and did not in any shape or form hinder this lads ability to scan their shopping!

Well a few days later I returned to the same supermarket to find the lad from my last visit wearing a plaster over his piercing! Being the person that I am (nosey that is) I had to go ask why he was wearing the plaster, I thought maybe an infection or something. It turns out that his bosses had made him cover it up as they find it offensive!

I was outraged by this as they seem to notice a piercing but not the chap with BO that work for them! I did enquire about him using a retainer, but he said he didn't like them as they stick out too far.

So on my next visit I took one of our new flat top push in retainers that sit almost flat to the skin.
